Girls on the Run of Greater Richmond Launches ‘Day of the Girl’ Fundraiser

Synergy Technical to match funds raised up to $5,000

Richmond, VA--- Girls on the Run of Greater Richmond is celebrating the girls in our community with an awareness program and fundraising campaign beginning September 27 and culminating on International Day of the Girl Child observed on October 11, 2022.

The local council aims to raise funds to support Girls on the Run of Greater Richmond, a program designed to inspire young girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Offered at elementary and middle schools across Richmond City, Chesterfield, Henrico, Goochland, and Hanover counties, the 20-session curriculum builds self-confidence and sets young girls down the path of a healthy lifestyle both physically and emotionally.

The ‘Day of the Girl’ campaign is dedicated to the amazing, confident, and accomplished girls and women in the Greater Richmond community and their ability to:

  • Recognize our power and responsibility to be intentional in our decision making
  • Embrace our differences and find strength in our connectedness
  • Express joy, optimism and gratitude through our words, thoughts and actions
  • Nurture our physical, emotional and spiritual health
  • Lead with an open heart and assume positive intent
  • Stand up for ourselves and others.

Throughout the campaign GOTR of Greater Richmond will share stories acknowledging local girls and women who embody the core values of Girls on the Run. You can follow along @girlsontherunrva on Instagram and through its newsletters.

“Day of the Girl is an opportunity for us to acknowledge how Girls on the Run encourages young girls in the Greater Richmond community to find the power within themselves and what makes them unique,” said Catherine Estevez, Executive Director of Girls on the Run Greater Richmond. “We are on a mission to bring this transformative program to more and more girls across the region so they too can build their confidence and activate their limitless potential.”

Synergy Technical, a local Richmond company that enables its customers to secure their environments, transform their operations, and empower their workers, is matching funds raised for ‘Day of the Girl’ up to $5,000.

“At Synergy Technical, we believe it’s important to give back to the local communities where we live and work. Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident - it's not just about running, it's about showing girls that they have limitless potential.  This is a mission we are proud to support."
